Man Utd post video ‘confirming’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointment as Norwegian PM congratulates ex-striker

Manchester United have posted a video on their official website confirming the appointment Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their 'interim' manager.

The video, featuring footage of Solskjaer’s dramatic winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final, appeared on United’s website shortly after 10:30pm GMT.

The link has since been removed.

Shortly before the video appeared, Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg appeared to confirm one of the biggest stories in football after congratulating Solskjaer on getting the United job.

Club legend Solskjaer is expected to be named the club’s caretaker boss following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal on Tuesday morning.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Solberg congratulated Solskjaer calling it a “great day for Norwegian football.”

United will seek to bring in a new permanent manager at the end of the 2018-19 season as part of a major restructure with will also see a Director of Football brought in.

James Robson Man United future manager possible appointments. Former United defender Laurent Blanc and Carlos Queiroz, Sir Alex Ferguson’s ex-assistant, have been touted as possible caretaker bosses today with Solskjaer since emerging as the favourite.
