Zoomlion in court after “wrongfully” receiving GHC400m from NHIA

Waste management company Zoomlion says it is in court to challenge the Auditor General's report which has indicted four CEOs of the National Health Insurance Authority of making wrongful payments to it.

The current and three ex-Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the Authority– Samuel Annor, Sylvester Mensah, Ras Boateng and Nathaniel Otoo– have been asked by the Auditor General to refund over GHȻ400m wrongfully paid to Zoomlion.

The Auditor General Daniel Domelevo wrote separate letters to them to inform them that after an audit into the accounts of the NHIA for the period from January 2007 to April 2018, the financial infractions were noted, prompting the surcharges and ultimatum.

Speaking on the matter, the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Zoomlion, Emma Akyea-Boakye, says her outfit has knowledge of the report.

She told Accra-based Citi FM that the waste management company is in court over the damning findings because it disagrees with it.

“Yes, we have knowledge of that report,” said Akyea-Boakye.

“We have read through it, we appreciate what is in there, but we disagree with the decision of the statement.

“And so for further actions, we have appealed to the court and we are waiting for the court to decide. And so we will wait until the court decides,” Emma Akyea-Boakye added.
